Dr. Croom will lead CCH’s larger effort to expand the reach of dental services to underserved communities in Detroit and Wayne County.

Central City Health (CCH), a Detroit-based Federally Qualified Health Center offering comprehensive medical, dental, and behavioral health care to residents of Detroit and Wayne County, announced today its new Dental Director, Dr. Olivia Croom. The announcement was made by Dr. Kimberly Farrow, President and CEO of CCH.

“Dr. Croom is an accomplished and widely respected dental professional with decades of experience delivering the best and most up-to-date dental care services. She is also a natural leader who brings strategic vision and direction to the organizations she serves. We are excited to have her leading the charge of delivering dental services – which are so integral to overall health – to Detroit’s underserved communities,” Farrow said.

A graduate of the University of Michigan (U-M) School of Dentistry and U-M School of Business, Croom has worked for more than 30 years in the dental industry. Her past positions include Vice President of Operations at Great Expressions Dental Centers in Atlanta and Executive Director of General Dentistry at The Children's Dental Center in Detroit.

In her role as CCH Dental Director, Croom will administer, maintain, and expand CCH’s primary and preventative dental services in Detroit and Wayne County. She will provide direct patient care and program oversight, educate patients and the community about oral health related disease and prevention; and develop an annual operating budget. In line with CCH’s integrated health model, Croom will collaborate with her CCH colleagues to provide additional care to patients in areas of medical, behavioral, employment and housing services.

In addition to her work at CCH Dental Center at 10 Peterboro St. in Detroit, Croom will conduct mobile dentistry visits of behalf of CCH at schools and organizations around Metro Detroit. The clinics will provide preventative services for children ages 1-17, including cleanings, X-rays and exams.

“I’m excited to join the team at CCH and work to improve the dental health of people in and around Detroit,” Croom said. “CCH’s dental services are part of its larger mission to provide integrated health and wellness services to all. I support this mission 100 percent and look forward to working alongside my colleagues to improve the lives of those in our community.”

Croom served as a member of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine Initiative Board from 2017-2019. She is currently a board member of the Black United Fund of Michigan, which promotes youth programs that empower children, teens and young adults in underserved and underrepresented communities.

Croom currently resides in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and she has two children.
