The Medical Assistant (MA) is required to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that emphasizes quality care and customer service. The MA works collaboratively with clinical and support staff in the provision of direct patient services, exhibiting flexibility and a “can-do” attitude. The Medical Assistant serves as a point of contact for other internal and external providers, with the goal of fostering an environment that promotes patient comfort, trust, and team-based care. The MA must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising the utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification required
- Knowledge of the healthcare field including medical terminology and the use of electronic health records
- Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center preferred
- Knowledge of PCMH preferred
- Must be able to work cooperatively with staff and others involved in the delivery of service to patients
- Must maintain confidentiality relating to treatment in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
